Thorn and Roses is a three piece amalgamation of powerful vocals and intricate instrumentation. This trio features a  blend of uncompromising three part harmonies, unique arrangements of country, classic rock and pop standards, and an energy so abundant it promises to have audience members on their feet from the first note to the very last.

 

Residing in various parts of Southwestern Ontario, Jay Riehl, Katie Korfmann and Janna Leduc are all respected music professionals in the Canadian music industry.  Individually, they each hold numerous accolades and successes, as solo artists and within various groups, creating a strong and diverse foundation for which Thorn and Roses was formed. This particular combination is something that they are all very excited about; a unique musical experience that transcends the borders of genre, promising to entertain music lovers of all kinds.

 

This dynamic trio features Katie Korfmann on fiddle and background vocals, Janna Leduc on guitars and lead/background vocals, and Jay Riehl on an impressive simultaneous right handed bass keyboard and drums, as well as background/lead vocals. 

Janna Leduc started performing at the age of 7 in small town Milverton Ontario, where she was born and raised. With the support of a wonderfully caring community and family, Janna’s career has blossomed from her annual appearances at the Milverton Fall Fair to include her most recent ventures on European stages. Influenced by various artists and genres, Janna prides herself on her versatility as an artist, from rock, to pop, to country, to R&B, to soul… and more.

 

Janna sang with the Perth County Youth Choir for six years, where she was recognized with number of awards from MusicFest Canada as a soloist. She holds an Honors Degree in Mediterranean Studies with Minors in both French and Music from Wilfred Laurier University, and recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Bachelor of Education Program. 

 

Janna’s most recent accomplishments include 2 European tours in 2015 with the vocal group “Jay and the Canadians”. She continues to pursue a number of musical avenues, performing in an acoustic duo alongside award-winning producer singer/songwriter Jay Riehl, and as a solo artist featuring a high energy band that promises to entertain. A love for drumming commenced at the early age of two for Jay Riehl; kickstarting his impressive music and producing career. Jay’s Grandmother Adela, a lifelong musician, nurtured Jay’s musical ambitions and encouraged him to expand his interests to a multitude of genres.  Jay’s impressive percussion playing and vocals are complimented by his vast knowledge of producing, and led to the creation of his successful recording studio in Stratford, Ontario called “The Swamp.” In addition to making records and touring globally, Jay has worked with Brian Dennehy, Justin Bieber, Tommy Hunter, Steven Page, The Stratford Festival, Discovery Channel, Bravo, Paul Gross, Simon Callow, John Cody Carter, The Creators, djkillers, John Landry, Jim Witter and Farmer's Daughter, to name only a few.  Jay currently produces everything from jingles, post production, demos to radio friendly records.  For more information on Jay, please visit www.jayriehl.com 

Katie Korfmann is an accomplished violin/fiddle teacher, performer, and recording artist from Brantford, Ontario. At the age of four, Katie began her journey with the instrument following the Suzuki Method. Early on in her learning, she attended a fiddle workshop that subsequently changed the

course of her career, inspiring her to become a lover of multiple playing styles and genres, which she incorporates into her playing to this day.

Katie began playing professionally in 2006, and would go on to perform live with various artists, and on multiple records including Valentina Plasaj’s “From My Heart To Yours” (Waterford, Ontario). For more information please visit
